What is RentScout?
RentScout is a rental listing aggregator for the Philippines. We automatically collect rental posts from hundreds of Facebook groups and organize them into a searchable, filterable directory so you can find a place without scrolling through dozens of groups.
Is RentScout free to use?
Yes! Browsing and searching listings is completely free for renters. You can create a free account to save favorites, set up search alerts, and message agents directly. Real-estate agents and brokers can sign up for a Pro plan to list properties, manage leads, access analytics, and promote their listings.
Where do the listings come from?
Listings come from two sources: we automatically scan hundreds of public Facebook rental groups across Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, and other major cities, and verified agents and brokers post listings directly on the platform. Either way, every listing is parsed and organized so you can search and filter easily.
Is RentScout affiliated with Facebook or Meta?
No. RentScout is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Facebook or Meta in any way.
Listings
How often are listings updated?
We scan Facebook groups multiple times throughout the day. Most new posts appear on RentScout within a few hours of being posted on Facebook.
Are the prices accurate?
We extract prices directly from the original Facebook posts using automated parsing. While we strive for accuracy, some prices may be approximate if the original post format is unusual. Always confirm the exact price directly with the landlord or agent.
How do I contact a landlord or agent?
For agent-listed properties, you can reveal their contact details directly on the listing or send them a message through RentScout. For listings sourced from Facebook, each listing links back to the original post where you can find the poster's details and comment directly.
Can I post my own listing on RentScout?
Yes! If you're a licensed agent or broker, you can sign up for an agent account to create listings directly, import them from Facebook, or claim existing scraped listings as your own. Visit the For Agents page to get started.
I found incorrect information on a listing. What should I do?
You can report any listing by clicking the report button on the listing page. Our team reviews reports and takes action to keep the directory accurate.
Account & Features
Do I need an account to browse listings?
No. You can browse and search all listings without an account. However, creating a free account lets you save favorites, set up search alerts, and message agents directly.
How do I sign in?
We use passwordless login - just enter your email and we'll send you a magic link. Click the link and you're in, no password needed. You can also sign in with Google.
What are saved searches?
Saved searches let you bookmark a specific set of filters (like city, price range, and property type) so you can quickly check for new listings matching your criteria anytime you visit.
How do search alerts work?
When you save a search with alerts enabled, we'll send you an email whenever new listings are posted that match your filters. You can manage or turn off alerts anytime from your dashboard.
Can I message agents through RentScout?
Yes. When you view an agent-listed property, you can send them a message directly through the platform. You'll receive notifications when they reply, and you can manage all your conversations from your dashboard.
For Agents & Brokers
How do I list my properties on RentScout?
Sign up for an agent account at the For Agents page. Once approved, you can create listings from scratch, import them from Facebook, or claim existing scraped listings. Your agent profile and contact details will be displayed on every listing you manage.
What is RentScout Pro?
Pro is our subscription plan for agents and brokers. It includes lead management tools, listing analytics, promoted placement for your properties, and priority support. You can manage your subscription from the agent dashboard.
How do leads work?
When a renter views your listing, reveals your contact info, or sends you a message, it's captured as a lead in your dashboard. You can track lead activity, see which listings are generating interest, and follow up directly through the platform.
Can I import my existing Facebook listings?
Yes. The agent dashboard has an import tool that lets you pull in listings from Facebook by URL. You can also claim listings that were already scraped from Facebook groups - just search for them and link them to your profile.
Renting Tips & Safety
How can I avoid rental scams?
Always visit the property in person before paying anything. Never send money to someone you haven't met. Verify the landlord's identity and property ownership. Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true, and always get a written contract before handing over a deposit.
What should I know before renting in the Philippines?
Most rentals require 2 months advance plus 1 month deposit. Utilities (electricity, water, internet) are typically paid separately. Ask about association dues for condos. Check the area during rush hour to understand your commute, and verify that the unit matches what was posted.
What's included in the rental price?
This varies by listing. Some include water or association dues in the rent, while others charge everything separately. Electricity and internet are almost always extra. Always ask the landlord exactly what's included before signing.
